Back to BlogAfter announcing its first $3 million competition for technology innovators in February, nearly 300 companies from across America applied to join the Financial Solutions Lab. In early May, applicants were narrowed down to 14 companies. Each of the finalist companies has products or solutions that help Americans better manage their household finances on a tight budget. On May 15, finalists arrived in New York for Selection Day at the headquarters of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Each company pitched their solution to a panel of judges and also met with Jamie Dimon to discuss promising trends in financial technology that can promote greater financial health.
Highlights of the event include:
Live Presentations: Each finalist presented their product/service to the Selection Committee, followed by a Q&A session with the judges. Personal finance expert Farnoosh Torabi moderated the discussion. Meet the Selection Committee, representing a range of expertise in the financial services industry.
Meeting with JPMorgan Chase Chairman & CEO Jamie Dimon: The CEO of each organization attended a private meeting with Dimon, the Financial Health Network CEO Jennifer Tescher, and JPMorgan Chase Head of Global Philanthropy Dalila Wilson-Scott. The participants discussed major trends in the market, issues facing entrepreneurs and banks, and several entrepreneurs discussed concrete ways that JPMorgan Chase and finalist companies could work together. It was a fascinating and engaging discussion!
Special Luncheon: Following the small group discussion, finalists joined the Selection Committee Judges and senior executives from JPMorgan Chase and the Financial Health Network to lunch, network, and discuss the newest innovations in financial technology.
